Hello,
I'm Julian.
The Person
born 1958
I’m a sculptor, but I didn't start that way. I've been a student of Law, an archaeologist digging up the past, and a builder constructing the present.
All those roads led me here: to a workshop filled with sparks, steel, and noise. I love the physical act of making - taking a cold, hard material and bending it into something that feels alive.

The Journey
It wasn't a straight line. I spent years in construction and property, enjoying the work of building things. But when the economy shifted in 1990, the ground moved beneath my feet.
Reinvention wasn't just a choice; it was a necessity. And in hindsight, it was the best thing that could have happened. It cleared the way for me to find my true vocation.
The Spark

"I was helping my friend Pigsy make candlesticks from old car parts and selling them down by the Bristol Watershed. Amidst the scrap, something just clicked."
I realized that metal wasn't just construction material - it was a medium. I grasped the rudiments of welding and, thanks to the unwavering support of my family - especially my wife Clare and our two children - I haven't looked back since.
Right Now

Today, my work is everywhere from private gardens to public squares. My own home boundary, "The Fence" has become a gallery that evolves with every new piece I make. It's my way of sharing art with my neighbours.
