“A life-sized steel sculpture of a Green Iguana named Maximus. This detailed piece is a permanent outdoor installation for a private property in Oxfordshire.”
Commissioned for a private property in Oxfordshire, "Maximus" is a life-sized steel sculpture of a Green Iguana. Known for their arboreal lifestyle and the impressive row of spines along their backs, these reptiles possess a distinctive, almost prehistoric presence.
In this piece, I utilized the natural strength and texture of steel to recreate the iguana's complex anatomy, from the large circular scale on its cheek to the long, powerful tail. Designed to integrate into the landscape, Maximus sits perched atop the property's boundary railings, serving as a permanent guardian of the grounds. Whether catching the summer sun or coated in a thick winter frost, the sculpture's metallic form provides a sharp, year-round contrast to the shifting seasons of the English countryside.
